1. It crawls
If your pages take more than two or three seconds to appear, you lose visitors before they have even seen your offer. Speed is also a ranking factor for Google. A slow site is a double penalty.
2. It is unreadable on a phone
Most visits now happen on mobile. If your site forces people to zoom, to scroll in every direction, or if elements spill over, you are missing half your visitors. A modern site adapts to the screen, full stop.
3. It does not come up on Google
You type your trade and your town, and you appear nowhere? A badly structured, badly optimised or overly slow site is hard to rank. A clean redesign brings the foundations back up to standard.
4. The design looks dated
Design is not just aesthetics: it is the first impression, and it decides in a few seconds whether the visitor stays or leaves. A site that “looks old” casts doubt on how serious the business is, even unfairly.
