A website for a tradesperson: what really counts (and what is pointless)

Illustration of an online quote request form for a tradesperson's website

A tradesperson’s site does not have the same job as a big brand’s site. Its purpose is simple and singular: a customer near you finds you, feels reassured, and gets in touch. Everything else is secondary. Here is what really counts, and what is not worth spending on.

What makes the difference

1. Local search. When someone types “plumber + your town” or “joiner near me”, you have to appear. That comes from a site that is clear about where you work, paired with an up-to-date Google listing. By far the number one lever for a tradesperson.

2. A way to reach you in one gesture. A clickable number at the top of every page (one tap = one call on mobile), and a simple quote request form. Not ten fields: name, need, phone, and off we go.

3. Photos of your work. That is your best argument. A customer who sees a bathroom you fitted, a terrace you built, is already half convinced. Real photos, not stock images.

4. Trust, front and centre. Area covered, years of experience, insurance, customer reviews. Those are the signals that turn a hesitant visitor into a phone call.

5. Speed and mobile. Your customers often search from their phone, sometimes on site with a poor connection. A site that crawls is a customer heading to the competition. A light site appears instantly.

What is (almost) pointless

Spectacular animations. Pretty in a demo, useless for winning a job, and they often slow the site down.

A blog you will never write. A blog is an excellent tool… if you write it. Promised and left empty, it just says “abandoned site”. Three impeccable pages beat a ghost section.

An e-commerce catalogue. A tradesperson sells a service, not products online. A quote form does the job; a full shop is budget spent for nothing.

Multiple languages, except in specific cases. Useful if you target foreign customers (a very touristy area). Otherwise, one more page to maintain with no return.

The essentials in one sentence

For a tradesperson, a sober, fast brochure site, well ranked locally, with real photos and a call button beats any flashy site. No more, no less.

That is exactly the modular approach we offer: we start from a solid foundation and only add what genuinely serves you. Prices and modules are published plainly on the website design page, and the quote is free within 24 hours.
