How long does it take to build a website?

“When will it be ready?” A fair question, and the honest answer depends mostly… on you. For a brochure site, allow two to four weeks as a rule. For a site with bookings, a shop or several languages, more like four to eight weeks. Here is where that time goes, and how not to stretch it unnecessarily.

Step 1, Scoping (2 to 3 days)

We clarify the essentials: what the site is for, who it speaks to, which pages, which features. Short but decisive: a badly scoped project is a project that then wanders in every direction.

Step 2, The mockup (3 to 5 days)

We draw the design before writing a single line of code. You see what your site will look like, you approve it, we adjust. This step avoids the worst scenario: discovering the result once everything is built and wanting to change it all.

Step 3, Development (1 to 3 weeks)

This is where we code the site, page by page, module by module. A brochure site goes quickly; each extra building block (bookings, payment, customer area, multilingual) adds a few days. It is craft work, not factory work, but a clean, fast site gets built quicker than an assembly of plugins you then have to hold together.

Step 4, The content (variable… and this is the real subject)

Here is the secret few agencies say out loud: it is almost never the development that drags a site out, it is the content. The text, the photos, the legal notices, the list of services: until they arrive, the site stays half empty.

So the best way to move fast is to prepare your content in parallel, or to hand the writing to us. A client with their text and photos ready saves several weeks.

Step 5, Review and go-live (2 to 3 days)

Tests on mobile and desktop, checking the links, the form, the speed, the basic search setup. Then it goes live, and the site is yours.

Can it go faster?

Yes, in one case: a simple brochure site, with content already prepared, can ship in one to two weeks. What slows things down is endless back and forth and missing content, two things that depend mostly on organisation, not on the technology.

With us, the timeline is stated with the quote, the mockup is approved before any development, and we tell you precisely what we need from you and when. It is all transparent on the website design page, and the quote, with an estimated timeline, is free within 24 hours.
