Easter gift idea: an engraved slate instead of one more chocolate

Square laser engraved slate standing on its support, with a selfie of a smiling family in front of the Eiffel Tower

Easter isn’t a holiday where people give many presents, and that is exactly why a small gift stands out. The children will have their chocolate eggs. But there is often someone else to thank or surprise: the grandmother who hosts the whole family for lunch, the godfather, the godmother, a godchild who is growing up. A photo engraved on slate makes a gift that lasts longer than chocolate.

We engrave them to order in our workshop in Talais, in the Médoc. In 2027, Easter falls on Sunday 28 March.

A few ideas for each person

For the household hosting lunch. The photo of the family gathered last year, around the same table or during the egg hunt in the garden. Given on arrival, it finds its place on the sideboard the same day.

For a godfather or godmother. A photo of their godchild, with a line: “My godfather and me”, the child’s name and the year. In many families, it is the godparents who give the eggs: this is a chance to return the favour.

For a godchild or grandchild. Their portrait, with their name and a small rabbit engraved in one corner. On the 28 cm round slate, a well-framed child’s face comes out very well.

For an Easter christening. Easter is a traditional time for christenings. A slate with the child’s name, the date of the christening and a discreet motif makes a keepsake, even without a photo.

Spring, as a small touch

The slate will stay in the living room long after Easter. It is better to keep the photo in the centre and add a motif rather than a whole scene. In advanced mode, on the personalisation page, you will find a rabbit, a flower, a daisy, a sprout or a sun, and frames such as dotted or little stars. One or two motifs are enough.

For the photo, there is only one rule that really matters: the faces must be large in the picture. An egg hunt photographed from far away, with tiny children in the grass, will give you a nice lawn and faces you can’t make out. We explain the rest in engraving a photo on slate, which photo to choose.

The timetable

The slate is engraved and packed within 48 to 72 hours, then delivered in 3 to 5 working days by Colissimo or to a pick-up point. For Easter 2027, order before 18 March. If you are in the Médoc, collection from the workshop in Talais is free.

Won’t be at the lunch? The “It’s a gift” option at checkout sends the parcel straight to the person, with no invoice inside and with your short note on a card.

The slate costs €49.90, engraving and support included, and delivery is free within France from three slates: handy when you are also thinking of the godfather and godmother. To get started, head to the shop, with the 30 × 30 cm square slate or the 28 cm round slate.

Frequently asked questions

When is Easter in 2027?
Sunday 28 March 2027, and Easter Monday is 29 March. To receive an engraved slate in time, order before 18 March.
Which spring motifs can be engraved on the slate?
In advanced mode, you will find among others a rabbit, a flower, a daisy, a sprout and a sun, as well as frames. You can add one or two around a photo, or make a slate with only text and motifs.
Can you eat off an engraved slate?
No. Our slates are painted so that the engraving comes out white, and that paint is not meant for contact with food. It is a decorative object, to stand upright on its support.
