Your happy customers are your best advertising, provided they say so online. But between “I am pleased” and “I leave a Google review” there is a gap: you have to think of it, get your phone out, find the business, find the button. Most people give up. Why reviews matter so much
Two very concrete reasons:
- The customer’s choice. Faced with two businesses, people almost always go to the one with the most reviews, and the best ones. It has become a reflex.
- Local search. In its results, and in the famous “nearby” box, Google favours businesses that receive regular, recent reviews. More reviews also means better placement.
The number and the freshness of reviews count as much as the score. Hence the value of collecting them continuously, not once a year.
The real obstacle: friction
Asking for a review out loud is awkward, and easy to forget. Sticking a QR code on a flyer is better, but you have to open the camera, aim, tap. Every extra step loses people along the way.
